Impostors offer jobs at Plant Research International
3 Mar 2009
Unit: Plant Research International

The good name of Plant Research International (PRI) is being used by impostors to obtain money. They offer attractive positions at the institute and when doing so ask for so-called cost compensation. This often happens under the name of "Dr. Willeke Van Roon-Mom" or "Dr David Patterson". These are non-existing persons who present themselves as employees of our institute.

We ask anyone who thinks to have noticed such a practice to contact us.

Method of the impostors
A position at Plant Research International is offered via internetsites or an e-mail message. Advertisements have also been published in local papers outside the Netherlands in which our name is used as well.
For all these activities the impostors use texts from the internet site of Plant Research International and they also refer to it. This adds a very authentic look to the offer.
Transferral of a certain amount of money is requested after the exchange of one or more e-mail messages. Such an inappropriate question can of course never come from an organization such as Plant Research International.

Legal action
We are working on possibilities to block this activity and we hope that well-meaning persons who are looking for a new step in their career don't become the victim of these fraudulent activities.

Plant Research International welcomes copies of e-mail messages and advertisements in which our good name is misused. These copies may help finding and prosecuting the culprits
