WCanoImp is a little utility program that can make a tremendous difference in the usability of the Canoco for Windows package, as compared with the older versions of the Canoco program.
If you record your data sets in a spreadsheet document (with the rows representing samples and the columns representing species / variables, or vice versa), you can export those tables into data files acceptable by the Canoco program. Just select the data in your spreadsheet document, copy them to the Windows Clipboard and perform the following three quick steps:
- Check, if appropriate, the few available options of WCanoImp (see the snapshot below)
- Click the Save button and specify the name for the file to be created
- Specify (optionally) the one-line commentary text describing the data set
