Diversity Arrays Technology (DArT)
A cost-effective technology for genetic fingerprinting

Advantages
DArT is not based on gels but on solid carriers, such as micro-arrays. This DNA marker technology has several advantages:
- Reliable
- No prior knowledge on DNA sequences or SNPs required
- Low costs per data point
- Very suitable for automation
Applications
DArT is very suitable for the following applications:
- Creation of genetic linkage maps
- Identification of quantitative trait loci (QTL)
- Accelerated introgression breeding in backcrossing programs
- Identification of genotypes
- Evaluation of the genetic diversity
- Conversion to simple markers for e.g. breeding programs is straightforward and easy

Plant Research International performs DArT for customers. The customers can supply DNA or (plant) material. Another option is that visitors do the DArT-work themselves in our lab, being guided by our experienced co-workers. The data are kept completely confidential.
