Preservation of fungus strains
PRI Mushrooms has a long experience in preserving fungal cultures. We can store your cultures in tubes with various substrates. In addition, we make back-up collections in liquid nitrogen.

Fingerprinting of fungus, plant and bacterial strains
We can make fingerprints of anything that contains DNA. Genetic fingerprints help to protect intellectual property (IP), such as breeding products or new isolates. More specifically, fingerprinting can be a tool for species identification or for determining whether a cultivar is unique (e.g. different from existing commercial lines).
Experimental culture of edible mushrooms
PRI Mushrooms will as from 2008 have at its disposal new mushroom cultivation facilities for conducting experimental cultures. The facility is suitable for many purposes that require preliminary small-scale testing:
- tests with pathogens
- breeding
- cultivar comparison
- substrate (compost/casing soil)
- etc.
The facility, however, is also intended for testing revolutionary ideas that are needed for important innovations. The innovative nature requires small-scale testing for which these facilities are extremely suitable. The facilities are managed by Unifarm, the Wageningen UR facility service conducting all cultivation experiments.
