Elise is an apple variety in the Jonagold segment. The variety is highly productive, has no problems with biennial bearing and is a steady grower. The apples have an excellent taste, can be stored for long periods and have an exceptionally long shelf life. They are a large, mainly cone-shaped fruit with a practically even dark-red blush on a yellow-green background.
The combination of an excellent taste, long storage ability and exceptional shelf life make Elise a unique variety. It is hardly susceptible to mildew and only slightly more so to scab, although the variety is rather prone to fruit tree cancer and occasionally to black specks on the peel. Elise® was selected in 1974 and has 'Cox's Orange Pippin' in its pedigree. The variety is legally protected by plant breeders rights under the trademark law. Fruit from 'Elise' Plant Research International(r) is produced in a closed chain, commercialised under the ROBLOS brand name and meets all quality and cultivation stipulations.
