Effect of pesticides on honey bees and bumblebees

Before a plant protection product is placed on the market, it has to be tested for toxicity and risk to honey bees and, depending on the field of use, also to bumblebees. Bees@wur has much experience in this field.

In 2004 and 2006 bees@wur has carried out two international studies into the effects of Steward on honey bees and bumblebees in fruit cultivation. With a GLP certified quality system bees@wur is excellently suited to conduct such research.

The ecotoxicological research of bees@wur is usually carried out for companies. This means that the results are not published unless the client gives permission to do so. We also conduct strategic research for, e.g., method development. This research is presented at scientific conferences while being published in proceedings.
