Weed problems occur in agriculture, (semi)natural vegetation, industrial and urban areas, and on hard surfaces. For these areas PRI develops and optimizes methods and systems for sustainable weed management:

  • Rational herbicide use, e.g. based Minimum Lethal Herbicide Dose (MLHD) method
  • Preventive measures, e.g. sol covering with mulches
  • Innovation in non-chemical weed control
  • Integrating preventive and curative measures into complete weed control systems.

Risk analyses with respect to weed seed dispersal, neophytes and innovative cropping systems (including those with genetically modified plants) are also included in the research.

Studies are carried out for governmental bodies, the European Commission, public organisations, agrochemical companies and farmer's organisations.
