In addition to changes in societal demands, changes in the natural environment are also altering the face and function of rural areas.

Climate change is a global problem that all societies will face in the coming decades. The most important causes of this are the burning of fossil fuels and emissions from land use.

Climate plays an important role in agricultural transitions; systems innovations will not only have to include targets for emissions reductions but will also have to be adjusted in the face of changing conditions.

Agrosystems Research designs innovative land use systems to reduce emissions that cause climate change. We also develop land use systems which are able to function optimally under the changing climatic conditions.
